From 2017 to 2021, with funding from the NIHR Global Health Research Unit (NIHR 16/136/68) we established an integrated programme of population health, digital health and health policy research to advance prevention and control of type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease in South Asian populations.

An iterative design and development process applying Human-Centred design principles was used to ensure platform satisfied requirements. Design research exercises were performed to understand the users and contexts across the settings. This was followed by a prototype testing of prototype platform components (software and hardware) with actual users and finally, development sprints to build the platform according to insights gained. This iterative loop was repeated several times until the complete platform was ready for field deployment.
