Miss. Sharmin is currently pursuing a masters in public health at James P. Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University. Before that she studied Sociology and obtained her bachelor and master degree. She has a publication titled “Reproductive Behavior of the Married Santal Women: A Study in Rangpur District” at the journal of Khulna University Studies Volume 17(1 & 2): 77-87: 2020.

Before joining this course, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Noncommunicable Disease and Nutrition at BRAC JPG School of Public Health-in the NCD Program ‘Training and digital care coordination for improved prevention of Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease by primary health care teams in Bangladesh’ and the Urban Development Program ‘Baseline Assessment of the Integrated Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Services Under the Rehabilitation Program for Upliftment of Ultra-Poor Slum Dwellers in Mohammadpur and Mirpur in Dhaka City and Saidpur in Nilphamari District in Bangladesh’. In both the projects, she contributed to developing data collection tools, collecting quantitative and qualitative data, performing anthropometric measurement, conducting interviews (IDIs,FGD), writing transcriptions, providing weekly updates, translating and preparing some documents, working with rural and slum people, women and adolescent girls, health providers and community leaders.

In addition, she is also working as one of the Regional Editors of the Journal of the International Sociological Association from the Global Dialogue Bangladesh Team. In which she translates selected articles from English to Bangla and also reviews the translated article and corrects its discrepancies.
