Rukhsar Fatima is enrolled in the two-year MPhil Microbiology at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Lahore, Pakistan.

Along with this course, she is working as a Central/Field coordinator in the Global Health Research Unit at Punjab Institute of Cardiology in collaboration with Imperial College London and pursuing M.Phil in Microbiology from Government College University Lahore, Pakistan. She was also involved in the iHealth-T2D study, a European Commission-funded study coordinated by Imperial College London. Rukhsar is passionate about serving humanity, an eager learner and highly interested in the prevention of rising levels of NCDs, in particular cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and diabetes.

Additionally, she has worked on the research project entitled “Comparison of urine dipstick test with urine culture for diagnosis of urinary tract infection (UTI) and spectrum of antibiotics effective against UTI causative agents”.

Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is a Punjab government run hospital specialised in tertiary care and treatment of cardiac diseases. PIC, originally named “Cardiac Centre”, was inaugurated on the 15th of October 1988. PIC acts as a reference and resource center for institutions in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery and provides administrative and technical support to other cardiac hospitals in the province. PIC also offers four years degree programs in the field of Medical Laboratory Technology and Cardiac Perfusion.
