Asma Tasawwar

Asma Tasawwar is enrolled in the Masters Health Professional Education, at the University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Additionally, she continues to provide support as a Research Coordinator in the Global Health Research Unit at Punjab Institute of Cardiology. She has also collaborated in the iHealth-T2D study, a European Commission-funded project, led by Imperial College London. Asma’s research work also includes “Comparison of Temperature and blood transfusion in Cardiopulmonary Bypass”.

Asma is passionate about community work and envisages to apply her learning and experience into creating better prevention platforms in Pakistan to reduce the burden of NCDs, in particular, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. She is also interested in innovation in medical education and its potential to contribute to the prevention and eradication of diseases in communities.

Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Pakistan

Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is a Punjab government run hospital specialised in tertiary care and treatment of cardiac diseases. PIC, originally named “Cardiac Centre”, was inaugurated on the 15th of October 1988. PIC acts as a reference and resource center for institutions in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery and provides administrative and technical support to other cardiac hospitals in the province. PIC also offers four years degree programs in the field of Medical Laboratory Technology and Cardiac Perfusion.
